Description
The Snake River is 1,040 miles long and
travels across the Northwestern states Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and
Washington. It is the largest river in the Northwestern United
States. Starting in Wyoming as just a small river at Jackson Lake,
and as it moves into Idaho and it gets bigger. It touches into Oregon after
reaching Hells Canyon, and travels north to Washington as the
Columbia River. In Southern Idaho, it presents amazing waterfalls and
riverbanks, and supports wildlife along the river. The river is also
a source for electricity and irrigation for farmers in the Snake
River Plain.
The sights and activities it offers are almost inumerable. Each sunset along the river bank is unique to each spot on the river. There are so many views that can be experienced on the Snake River. The waterfalls that the river spills over are also splendid things to see, and to witness the power of the river.
Fishing, boating, rafting, hiking, camping, and wildlife watching are some of the activities that you can do with the Snake River. Fishing in the Snake River is available all year round. The river supports a wide variety of trouts, including brown trout and cutthroat trout. Along some areas salmon also thrive in the river and can be fished. Make sure you have a fishing license before you fish on the river though. Drifting down the river in a boat can offer a time to relax and take in the river and the experience of it. Rafting at some of the rapids is also available in some places. Camping is available in many areas where streams and smaller rivers branch off the snake river. Swimming however, is dangerous in many areas of the river. Although the water may look calm and steady, it's undercurrents are very strong and can be life-threatening.
The Snake River supports a wide variety of wildlife including bird species, deer, elk, moose, beavers, fish, and many plant species. It's amazing how such a beautiful river provides so much to the area around it, but is so strong and powerful and dangerous to be caught in. The Snake River is a beautiful river! It offers so much to the people around it, and is a great river with scenery to see and activities to experience.

Best time to go and fees
The time to go is when you'd prefer to see the river in the different seasons. It can be beautiful all year round, but
activities like rafting, wildlife observation, and hiking are probably preferred in the
warmer months. Rafting tours and different activities can require fees.
