Mesa Falls
BY DANIELLE JONES
description
Mesa falls is a collection of two amazing waterfalls at Henry's Fork on the Snake river, and they are part of the Targhee national forest. It is absolutely beautiful. In Upper Mesa Falls, water spills over a 300 foot wide rock, falling for 114 feet.
It's a waterfall that reminds people of Niagara Falls. The rumbling and roar of the water fills your ears as you stand by the waterfall, and creates an atmosphere of the strength of nature, and beauty. Boardwalks, stairs, and paved parking make the site more user friendly. There is a campsite at the Lower Mesa Falls, from which the lower falls can be viewed.
Other activities in the area include hiking, skiing in the winter, and wildlife viewing. There are natural wonders in this area of the Mesa Falls. All you have to do is seek it out and enjoy it.
The Mesa Falls attraction was actually purchased from a power company by the Targhee National Forest, and is now a scenic attraction rather than a company owned power source. The preservation of the waterfall could be debatable, as natural resources are a great way to harness power for us to use.
